About

Catherine is a dynamic trainer, consultant, and subject matter expert in the area of workplace bullying and interorganizational communication processes.

Her interest in workplace bullying developed as a result of her own experience being bullied at work; and a desire to understand the bully's behavior and why her organization turned their back on her even though she was a top producer (not an uncommon occurance for targets).

Catherine received both her BA and MA from San Diego State University, where her research focused on organizational communication, and more specifically workplace bullies. She has published nationally and presented her research internationally, and expects to publish a book on strategic resistance to workplace bullies within the next year.

Catherine is also an adjunct lecturer at National University and ITT Technical Institute where she teaches group dynamics, world cultures, social psychology, public speaking, research methods and business ethics. She also taught public speaking at the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) for a few years, and has guest lectured several times at San Diego State University on the subjects of leadership, success, and resume writing and interviewing skills.

Catherine is on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Training & Development (ASTD), San Diego Chapter, runs a Special Interest Group for organizational practitioners for the newly created International Association of Workplace Bullying and Harassment. She also serves on the Program Advisory Committee for California College and is a member of the National Communication Association (NCA).
